After last week’s teaser, here is finally the new Mercedes-Benz SL in all its glory.
The V6 in the Mercedes-Benz SL 400 is 38hp more potent than the outgoing model for a total output of 367 hp, and the SL 500’s V8 engine now produces 455 hp (+6). The Mercedes-AMG SL 63 and its twin-turbo V8 offer up 585 hp (+8), and the SL 65 unleashes 630 hp (+9) with a twin-turbo V12. All four use a new 9-speed 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission.
The electro-hydraulic top opens or closes at speeds up to 40 km/h. New LED Intelligent Light System headlights and new 19” wheels also highlight the exterior changes. As for safety, look for Distance Pilot DISTRONIC adaptive cruise control, PRE-SAFE Plus braking, Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Assist, and more.
