The "Mobile Black Office" design study unveiled to the public at the Caravan Salon, which is just drawing to a close in Düsseldorf, proved to be a great success with the visitors to the show. The mobile office, which is based on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and boasts a vast amount of space with conference workstations for up to four people, particularly attracted the attention of those involved in media production, such as film teams, architects and self-employed engineers.

The study was designed with precisely these professions in mind, as well as for designers, construction site managers and consultants. Conferences can now be held with the greatest of ease thanks to the comfortable seats and a multifunctional table. EDP and multimedia equipment, attractive materials and a pioneering lighting concept all help to provide the very latest in office comfort. The vehicle is equipped with a total of three laptops, two 15" monitors and a beamer with an 80 x 80 cm retractable projector screen. The back-office area can be partitioned off with a screen and contains a fold-down bunk for the vehicle occupants to relax, while still offering enough room for the transport of leisure equipment such as mountain bikes. The compact catering facilities include a refrigerator, a sink, a microwave and a coffee/tea and espresso machine.

Although there are currently no plans to market the mobile office, the design study will be on show at the IAA Motor Show in Frankfurt. The Mobile Black Office was designed and produced in cooperation with a number of system partners, including Brabus and the IDC (Innovations & Design Center).

The basic vehicle, the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, has a wheelbase measuring 3550 mm and a max. gross vehicle weight of 3.5 tons. A five-cylinder CDI diesel engine with the latest common-rail technology and an output of 115 kW (156 hp) ensures nifty progress out on the road. This is complemented by innovative safety features such as windowbags and a twin airbag for the front passenger.
