Only about a year or so after it brought the G20 back onto the Canadian market, the Infiniti division of Nissan is sprucing the entry-level sports-sedan up.
It's not a big thing, and it doesn't really address the key issue of power, but the upgrade will be of interest to some people.
From the outside, the only evidence that it's a 2000 model instead of a 1999 are the dual exhaust tips that have been put in place to handle the 145 horsepower the 16-valve, 2-litre engine now puts out.
The owner will notice that there are more features, including heated outside mirrors with an anti-glare coating, simulated wood trim in the cabin, auto-off headlights, power trunk release, power windows with one touch up/down for the driver, an immobilizer key, rear centre 3-point belts, permanent child seat tether anchors, and the retained accessory power feature that lets you close the windows or move the seat after the key is turned off.
There'll be two Infiniti G20 models for 2000 -- Luxury and Touring. Nissan Canada has also made it official that there'll be a new QX4 sport utility unveiled early in 2000, as a 2001 model. Shortly after that, a hot-looking Q45 luxury-touring sedan will arrive.
