New GTS and ES models further bolster Lancer family

The new 2016 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution Final Edition marks the end of the run for the fabled Lancer Evo. Only 350 copies will be available, and they will arrive at Canadian dealerships later this month starting at $49,498.

Mitsubishi took things to another level by giving the sporty compact a 2.0L MIVEC turbocharged engine producing 303 horsepower (up from 291) and 305 lb-ft of torque. A 5-speed manual gearbox comes standard.

In terms of design, the Lancer Evolution Final Edition sports forged aluminum BBS wheels, dark chrome around the front grille, a black-painted roof, and glossy black hood vents. This is complemented by a massive rear spoiler and Diamond White Pearl body paint.

The interior features Recaro bucket seats up front. Red stitching can be found on them, as well as on the steering wheel, shift knob, armrest, parking brake, and rear seats.

New Lancer GTS and ES models
For 2016, Mitsubishi Canada is adding two new models to the regular Lancer family – GTS and ES – for a grand total of seven, with prices ranging from $14,998 to $27,998.

Set to go on sale next month, the 2016 lineup benefits from a revised exterior including a redesigned front fascia. What’s more, Sedan and Sportback models with All-Wheel Control (AWC) come standard with a new CVT-8. The latter is optional on FWD models.

The new 2016 Lancer ES is available in both FWD and AWC configurations, with a manual or automatic transmission. Standard equipment includes a 2.0L engine, heated mirrors, keyless entry, Bluetooth, automatic climate control, and heated front seats.

Meanwhile, the 2016 Lancer GTS gets a 2.4L engine rated at 168 horsepower, 18” alloy wheels, cloth-trimmed sports seats, a rear-view camera, and a multifunction colour display stereo. Buyers can add bi-xenon headlights, leather seats, a 710W Fosgate premium sound system, and a F.A.S.T. key.

As for the Lancer Sportback, it features a 148-horsepower 2.0L engine, LED daytime running lights, 16” alloy wheels, and audio display.
