Having achieved a remarkable seventh straight home win at Mugello, Fiat Yamaha's Valentino Rossi now heads for the Catalunya circuit at Montmelo where will be held the next Grand Prix of Catalunya. The Italian is the most successful rider in history at the Barcelona track, with eight wins and eleven consecutive podium appearances to his name at the scene of round seven.

Rossi now leads by 12 points over Repsol Honda´s Dani Pedrosa who will be back on his home turf. Pedrosa has been able to climb on the podium at each race this year and the Spaniard is expected to fight hard to regain the championship lead in front of his own fans.

Rossi's teammate, Jorge Lorenzo has been by far the most impressive rookie of the year and despite having been handicapped by injuries thru the lat three races, he has been able to remain in the championship battle. Unfortunately, Lorenzo crashed during the last race at the Mugello, hence scoring no points in the championship battle. Things could change this weekend as Pedrosa and Lorenzo have won many times in the Catalunya circuit in different categories.
