In the end, it is possible that open-wheel motorsport in Canada could be changed for the worse after this season is over. With Formula 1 at odds with Canada over tobacco sponsorship and CART without confirmed financing to complete its 2004 season, it is entirely possible the Tony George's Indianapolis Raceway will host the only North American F1 event, while George's IRL could be the only primarily North American open-wheel series - heaven forbid. Let's hope and pray the powers that be manage to keep the status quo alive.
But alas, once again the power is in Bernie Ecclestone's hands, for F1 and possibly even CART, as he is one of the only suiters with deep enough pockets to possibly act as the troubled series' savior. So, love him or hate him, Bernie is still in the driver's seat.
