Carl Edwards backed up his Nationwide win at the Texas Motor Speedway last week with a dominating win at Phoenix International Raceway on Saturday.

“Two in-a-row that’s great,” said the exuberant Edwards ,adding “that’s the best driving race car I’ve had in the Nationwide Series.”

Edwards led 153 laps, of the 200 lap race, at the one-mile oval including the final 56 laps.

“It was not the driver that was making the difference, it was the race car,” Edwards explained after finishing five-seconds ahead of Kevin Harvick.

It was Edwards fourth Nationwide Series win of the year and 29th in his career.

Harvick said: “Carl just got too far away from me there at the end. I think we were pretty evenly matched and got to racing the 18 (Kyle Busch) and he (Edwards) got way out and never had a caution. So, (we) wound up second.”

Joey Logano finished third.

Busch had to make an unscheduled pit stop to replace a flat tire and wasn’t a factor in the results.

It could be shaping up as strong weekend for Edwards who won the pole for Sunday’s Sprint Cup Race.

Local fan favorite, Danica Patrick finished seven-laps down.
