“Kevin Harvick told me ‘This is Max Papis. He’ll be your teammate. Listen to him!’. Max’s got so much experience in road courses, and he finished second here last year. By driving a car this morning, I noticed that the kerbs are pretty high here. With the new front end we’ve got on the new Nationwide cars, you gotta be careful not to hit these kerbs because you’ll damage the splitter. In comparison to last year’s cars, the new Nationwide cars are heavier, taller and the body is not as efficient. To me, it’s like comparing a Corvette to a minivan,” said Sadler.
Sadler talked also about the new point system, and the fact that driver must score points in just one series.
“I’d say the new point system is a lot easier to understand. The directors of NASCAR want the Nationwide series to develop the new generation of Sprint Cup drivers. But I see the difference this season. Last year, I was jumping back and forth between the Cup car and the Nationwide car. I no longer do that. When you jump out of the Cup cars, it seems you can throw the Nationwide car anywhere. It seems so easy to drive. Now, I have less track time and I can feel it,” said Sadler.
Sadler, one of the very drivers to have captured a pole and a win in all three major NASCAR series knows that competition will be fierce at the race in August.
“The road racing experts will be there to compete as well, guys like Jacques Villeneuve and Patrick Carpentier. It is very extremely competitive, but it will produce a fantastic show. The Montreal race is always highly exciting!” said Sadler.
