This first weekend of September marks the beginning of NASCAR's great season finales. It will all start off with the Nationwide series that will run the Richmond three-quarter-mile short track on Friday evening for the Emerson Radio 250.

Canadians Andrew Ranger (Dodge No 22) and D.J. Kennington (Dodge No 81) will be part of that fantastic event that will be shown live on ESPN and later on TSN (at 3:00 am).

Then on Saturday evening, it will be time for the NASCAR Sprint Cup race, the Chevy Rock and Roll 400, the last race of the regular NASCAR calendar before the Chase for the Cup. Kyle Busch (Camry no 18), Carl Edwards (Ford No 99), Dale Earnhardt (Chevy No 88) are sure to make the Chase but many other drivers will have to fight it off to make it.

Canadian Patrick Carpentier (Dodge No 10) will be running for the Rookie of the Year title. This race will be seen live on ABC and in French on RDS (or RIS).

Earlier in the afternoon, at the Gateway International Speedway in Madison, Illinois, the Craftsman Truck Series will be in action in the afternoon for the Camping World 200, a race to be seen on SPEED.

As far as the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series, it will race the very short Barrie Speedway on Saturday evening. Will Scott Steckley (Dodge No 22) hold on his Championship lead or will young Andrew Ranger (Ford No 27) challenge him for the title?
