Lost in the hoopla of the NASCAR Awards Banquet in Las Vegas was this little nugget sent us by our friends at Texas Motor Speedway.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. said that JR Motorsports, the Nationwide team which had been a 50-50 joint venture with his car owner Rick Hendrick, would now also be part owned by his sister, Kelly Earnhardt, and his cousin and former crew chief Tony Eury Jr.

"All the percentages changed, and I don't think that's really important," said Earnhardt, who declined to divulge the how much each principal owned.

"That's probably personal to the business itself, but their involvement in the company … me and Rick don't make money racing in the Nationwide Series. We don't do it to make money.”

That’s an interesting statement considering the team was in talks with Danica Patrick with driver’s fees said to be out of proportion for the Nationwide series.

Earnhardt’s disclosure makes sense because when Auto123.com asked Mr. Hendrick about talks with Patrick he referred us to Kelly Earnhardt.

That was confirmed in the Texas news "her and my sister are sort of managing that entirely," Earnhardt said.

"I have not been in any way, shape or form involved. She's going to drive stock for somebody -- someday. Look at all the Formula One guys over here looking around, checking it out. The handwriting's on the wall for her and several other guys."
