Canadian NASCAR driver Patrick Carpentier (Dodge No 10) tried his best to be part of the NASCAR All-Star race held Saturday evening at the Lowe's Motor Speedway (North Carolina) that does not count for the Sprint Cup championship but still holds a $ 1 million prize for the winner.

To do so, Carpentier would have had to win or finish second in the invitational Showdown race held before the All-Star event. But starting last, he spun and hit the wall early in the race.

Later on, his teammate, Kasey Kahne (Dodge No 9) who did not make it on positions but was voted in the race by the fans showed that the GEM Dodges were back on track as he won the fourth and last leg of the All-Star event and collected the $ 1 million prize.

Greg Biffle (Ford No 16) was an important contender but had to finish second. Matt Kenseth (Ford No 17) finished third.

Both crowd favourites and at one time leaders Kyle Busch (Camry No 18) and Denny Hamlin (Camry No 11) had engine problems that sidelined them both. Busch finished last, Hamlin, next to last.
