It looks like Kurt Busch and Dodge are two names to watch this year in the NASCAR Sprint Cup championship.
Indeed, Kurt (Dodge No 2) won the Kobalt Tools 500 held at the Atlanta Motor Speedway this Sunday afternoon not only by leading the most laps but also by resisting major attacks by Jeff Gordon (Chevy No 24) who ended up second and Brian Vickers (Camry No 83).
What's more, Kurt even had to pit some five laps to the end when the yellow flag was thrown for a blown tire on Robby Gordon's car (Camry No 7).
The race was restarted with two laps to go and Busch easily passed Carl Edwards (Ford No 99) who had taken the lead out of pit lane still followed by Gordon. But Busch's Dodge was too strong for Gordon who, once again, had to be content with a second place finish. Gordon still leads the championship but Kurt Busch is now third.
Clint Bowyer (Chevy No 33) ended up sixth so he is second in the championship. Edwards and Matt Kenseth (Ford No 17) are fourth and fifth. Finally, let's point out that Kurt Busch probably started a new fad by doing his victory lap...in reverse!
