Although he’s best known as a two-time Daytona 500 winning driver, and team owner, the versatile and humorous Michael Waltrip is taking his act on the road, literally.

He will be appearing at the Colosseum at Caesars Windsor in Ontario, Canada on January 22 with a the stand-up comedy routine called Michael Waltrip’s Comedy Garage where he’ll be joined by comedians Henry Cho and John Reep.

“This is something totally different from what I am used to,” said Waltrip.

“In a race car I am in my element and I’m comfortable. When you give me a microphone and tell me I have to stand up in front of a lot of people and be funny on purpose, that makes me nervous. I’m funny accidentally. The definition of stand-up comedy is being funny on purpose.”

“It’s a great challenge and something that is a lot of fun. The people that do it for a living sure have my respect. I hope everyone will come out and give us a chance to entertain them,” Waltrip said.

His first performance will take place at Kansas City’s Ameristar Casino on January 21. And on the Sprint Cup weekend, The Mirage will host shows on March 4 and 5 in Las Vegas.
