Trent Owens is the Crew Chief of the No 32 Dollar General Braun Racing Nationwide Toyota Camry driven this weekend by former Formula 1 World Champion Jacques Villeneuve.
Auto123.com spent some thime with Owens talking about working with Villeneuve during the important event that is the NAPA Auto Parts 200 in Montreal.
“Jacques is great to work with,” the Darlington, S.C. resident told us. “He’s very joyful and highly determined to succeed”.
“We enjoyed two good, solid days of testing with him at Carolina Motorsport Park in Kershaw in preparation for this race. It went extremely well, especially on the first day,” Owens said.
“Jacques is very open minded and is used to experiment different set-ups, things that other drivers and crews are not really used to. He has such an incredible background in single seater, endurance sports cars and sedans. He’s raced in so many categories that he goes into directions that other people don’t normally experiment”.
The young Braun Racing Crew Chief looks forward to a good result in the race held on the Gilles-Villeneuve circuit, a track known to be extremely difficult on brakes.
“Jacques is a very good team player,” he said. “He’s very intelligent and he knows how to save a race car. It should be a good race,” Owens concluded.
