NFL star Chad Ochocinco certainly knows action sports by his primary occupation.
In an off week the Cincinnati wide receiver got a taste of NASCAR’s Sprint Cup series riding with veteran Jeff Burton at Atlanta Motor Speedway the fastest non-restrictor plate track on the circuit.
Previously he’s tried soccer and bull riding. This time the 3,450 pound stock car resembled his adventure on a live animal which weighs about half as much.
After some laps, estimated at between 150-160mph, at the 1.5 mile speedway Ochocinco said "this ranks right up there with the bull riding, man. It's not until you actually get in a car with these guys, like today with Jeff Burton, that you realize how dangerous this sport is and the amount of skill it takes to run out there with other drivers.
"We went around at a pretty good pace and I got to show him the line you run at Atlanta. And you know he's a world class athlete so it's really cool to get a chance to show him what we do. And he was real excited about it and had a good time," Burton said.
He also got a chance to learn the intricate dance that is a NASCAR pit stop.
"The pit crew was difficult. I tried to do some of the things that they've been doing, as far as changing tires and jack the car up. Other than that, it's difficult. Especially because I'm out of my element, but it was fun, it was a great experience," Ochocinco added.
