Kyle Busch (Camry No 18) who was celebrating his 24th birthday, won the Sprint Cup Crown Royal presents the Russ Friedman 400 at the 3/4-mile Richmond International Raceway on Saturday evening, making it two in a row for this NASCAR driver at the same track on the same week-end.

Indeed, Kyle also won the Nationwide race the night before.

But this time, he did not have it as easy. For many laps he had to stay behind and work his way to the front. Though he did lead a few laps earlier in the event, he finally took the lead from Jeff Gordon (Chevy No 24) on lap 354 of 400. Many teams feared that rain would shorten the race but it was carried on to the end.

Veteran and car owner Tony Stewart (Chevy No 14) came in second followed by Jeff Burton (Chevy No 31), Stewart's teammate Ryan Newman (Chevy no 39) and Mark Martin (Chevy No 5).

There were a record 15 caution flags thrown for 78 laps during the race that saw 8 different drivers exchanging the lead 22 times.

The Sprint Cup series is now headed to the Darlington Raceway next Saturday evening. Jeff Gordon is back leading the Championship (he finished 8th in Richmond) with only 10 points more than Kurt Busch (Dodge No 2 who finished 12th) and 39 ahead of Tony Stewart.
