The Government of Quebec has promised to give a quick answer to the promoters that will have to negotiate a new contract for Montreal's NASCAR Nationwide Race at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve.

As reported by La Presse Canadienne, the International Speedway Corporation (ISC) is asking for half-a-million dollar from each level of government before it can even agree to negotiate a new contract. The $1,6M deficit would be the main reason for this request.

Montreal is the only city in the world that welcomes both a Formula 1 and a NASCAR race and its hope to one day welcome the NASCAR Sprint Cup have not died yet.

Primer Jean Charest has confirmed he will evaluate this dossier just like any other business request, meaning he will make sure the return on investment will be profitable for the province of Quebec and all its taxpayers.

The Association of Grand Hotels as well as Tourism Montreal estimates the revenues of this one event to $13M in media visibility while the ISC estimates at $25M the total revenues, a substantial amount of money for a two days event.

Many thousand spectators come to the event with a notable amount of American fans coming from the United States but also from Mexico.
