It is one of the most popular race in NASCAR but that doesn't mean that the economic hard times has not impacted on the sale of tickets for the upcoming Daytona 500.

By the end of January last year, every grandstand ticket for this classic was sold out but it seems now that much of a backstretch has yet to be filled.

That is why the organisers at Daytona have announced that a limited number of backstretch tickets have been reduced from $99 to $55, the lowest price for a Daytona 500 ticket since 1995.

Daytona isn't alone. NASCAR's marquee facility is one of a handful of race tracks that have dropped ticket prices in the wake of the recession like; Darlington, Talladega Richmond and Bristol.
