Watch out Jimmie Johnson!

On the Charlotte Motor Speedway media tour stop at Richard Childress Racing headquarters, Childress said his team is ready to stop Johnson’s championship streak at five.

"This year is the year to knock Jimmie (Johnson) from the throne. We were close with Kevin [Harvick] last year, but this is the year to do it -- and it's going to be RCR, I feel certain. So I'm going to make that (prediction)," Childress said.

Richard Childress add that it was "no different than when Dale and RCR was winning championships, we were the bar and sooner or later you're going to get knocked off and we want to be the ones to knock him off."

Earnhardt’s seventh driver’s title, in 1994, was the last time Childress won NASCAR’s top honor as an owner.

Last year was a rebuilding year as Harvick led the points standings at the end of the first 26 races but finished third in the standings. And RCR had all three of its’ 2010 drivers (Harvick, Jeff Burton and Clint Bowyer) make the Chase.

One big reason is its’ collaboration with Earnhardt-Childress Racing (ECR) has some of the most potent engines in NASCAR’s Sprint Cup series.

“We’re just ready to race, and as we want to be as good as last year and we want that trophy,” Kevin Harvick said.

"I'm glad that Richard has the confidence to say we're going to win it. I'd be real nervous if he didn't," Jeff Burton, who finished 12th last year, said.

"And we believe we can. Other teams do, too. Especially this time of the year, every team beats their chests pretty hard. There is something to be learned from coming close and not getting it done; there is something to be learned from every team. So it's good to have Richard stand here today and say we're going to get it done. Richard is committed to making the things happen here so we can get it done, and I'm proud of him for sitting here and saying it," Jeff Burton added.

RCR has expanded to a four-car team with the addition of Paul Menard. Although the team struggled the last time it was a four-car team Childress was confident that he’s better prepared.

So when a reporter asked Richard Childress if he guaranteed that he’d take home the big trophy he replied "I didn't guarantee it. I just said we was gonna do it."
