Sometimes payback isn’t that word that rhymes with witch. When Ron Hornaday Jr. was a big name he let the then undiscovered Kevin Harvick sleep on his couch.

Now, at 51, Hornaday is driving a Camping World Chevrolet Truck for Kevin Harvick Inc. With Harvick’s victory over Kyle Busch’s Toyota in Friday night’s 150 mile race at the one-mile Phoenix oval, and his fourth place, Hornaday became the first four-time champion in the truck series.

“My wife made me sleep on the couch last week,” Hornaday joked. “ It’s kind of cool and I think this is the payback -- what Kevin and Delana (Harvick) have given me.”

Owner and driver did twin burnouts in front of the crowd.

Talking about the race Harvick said, “yeah, I think we’ve run like five races and it seems like we’re racing Kyle (Busch) every time we’re on the track. That makes it a lot of fun and its cool that it came down to a couple green-white-checkers…”

Busch winner of last week’s Truck (and Nationwide) race in Texas said, “we weren’t as good as the 4 (Kevin Harvick). We did the best that we could and that’s all that we could come home with.

“He (Harvick) kicked our butt pretty bad last year and we got a gain on it this year and that gain right there, we need another one and we’ll be able to keep up with them or try to at least beat him. We kept up with him tonight but needed a little more.”

Despite all KHI has accomplished Hornaday said they’re not finished. “We’re going to go out and do what we have to do and Kyle’s (Busch) on a roll. He almost won three last weekend. We’re going to try to go out there and get the owner’s championship (in Miami) and we’re not done racing.”
