Jimmie Johnson (Chevy No 48) has grabbed the pole of the Sunoco Red Cross Pennsylvania 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup race that will be run Sunday afternoon at the Pocono Raceway.
Following him were Mark Martin (Chevy No 8) and David Gilliland (Ford No 38). Series point leader Kyle Busch (Camry No 18) could do no better than 27th.
As for Canadian driver Patrick Carpentier, he was busy in Montreal at the Nationwide race so veteran driver Terry Labonte qualified his No 10 Dodge in 25th starting spot. Labonte will also drive the car during the race. Only Chad Chaffin (Chevy No 34) did not qualify for the race.
