Canada’s newest supercar called the de Macross GT1 will be unveiled to the press this week in Toronto, Ontario.

The car was developed for the de Macross Motors Corporation (DMMC), a young Canadian performance car making business headquartered in Vancouver, BC.

This company was founded by Jahong Hur, President and CEO of H-Plus Holdings Ltd, a South-Korean trading company specialising in LCD panels. The Korean entrepreneur doubles as an engineer and artist who designed a number of unique performance vehicles for the DMMC brand. The GT1 will be the first model to reach commercial production.

A Multimatic spokesperson says the GT1 was created « to dominate the world’s elite sports cars market ». To reach this goal, the mid-engined coupe was equiped with a supercharged 5.4L V-8 engineered and built by Roush Yates, and a 6-speed manual transmission. Internal dyno testing showed this engine is capable of producing over 800hp and over 700ft.-pd. of torque.

The first production prototype of the GT1, that will be unveiled this week, has a 4.7-metres long body with a low ground clearance of 123 millimetres.
