TRW Automotive Holdings, a leading supplier of automotive safety systems, today announced the next generation of adaptive frontal passenger airbags.
These so-called ''dual contour airbags'' use sensors to determine occupant size and other variables of a crash including the vehicle speed and force of impact. With this information, they adjust both the airbag pressure and size to help tailor protection.
TRW anticipates its advanced airbags to be ready for production by 2013.
