How did they do it? A new NGC3 engine control module with an updated calibration that widens the torque range is responsible, in part, for the additional horsepower and torque. The 2004 model also features a new standard torque-sensing limited-slip differential that increases traction when accelerating away from the corners.

And just how quick is it? According to Dodge Brand Manager John MacDonald, the "Dodge SRT-4 is a car created for tuners by tuners. It is the fastest car in Canada for under $27,000 and second quickest car in the Dodge lineup, accelerating from 0 - 100 km/h in just 5.8 seconds. Only the Dodge Viper is faster." That's pretty serious company to be keeping.

MacDonald continued by saying, "Dodge SRT-4 is the perfect vehicle for someone looking for a customized look they can drive right off the lot, yet the design isn't so overwhelming that it stifles the creativity of enthusiasts looking to personalize their own cars. It offers the best of both worlds."
Along with the powertrain upgrades PVO has added a few enhancements to improve both styling and overall performance. Its rear decklid spoiler offers downforce, aiding in high speed traction and control, while its front and rear fascias are revised from the SX 2.0 compact that forms the basis of its architecture. Side sills offer aerodynamic assistance as well, while ending with openings for the twin stainless steel exhaust tips.
