Nissan has just announced the plan and the motto that translate its environmental philosophy: "the symbiosis between people, vehicles and nature". By 2010, the Japanese automaker will have adopted a number of initiatives that will help concentrate its efforts in three key aspects:
  1. Reduction of CO2 emissions thanks to technologies that improve the efficiency of engines and transmissions;
  2. Reduction of exhaust gas emissions;
  3. Accelerated efforts to recycle vehicles and manufacturing waste.
In addition to improving the development of technologies that will make internal combustion engines models of cleanliness and efficiency, Nissan will go further by introducing a vehicle with a fuel economy of 3 L/100 km. On top of that, an in-house Altima Hybrid will be developed along with both hydrogen and electric powertrains.

On the heels of 2005
With its Green Program 2005, Nissan had set ambitious goals; yet, most of them have been met or surpassed. Meanwhile, the company was rewarded by the Global Environment Forum (GEF) in 2004 and 2005 for its Excellence in Sustainability Reporting.
