Auto23.com has talked to the general manager of the Grand Prix of Trois-Rivieres about the substitute series for the Formula Atlantic in August.

Just weeks prior to the start of the 2010 season, the organizers of the Atlantic series decided to cease activities for at least one year.

"We are working on various solutions," said François Bordeleau of the Grand Prix of Trois-Rivieres.

"The main problem we face is that the schedules were already decided when the Atlantic series' organizers decided to stop for a year. Most other series cannot just add our event to their existing schedule. We have investigated who's free on that weekend," said Bordeleau.

The boss the event did not want to unveil the series he's discussing with.

"We cannot go chasing the major league series. Their schedules cannot be altered. But it doesn't necessarily mean that we need to have open-wheel series again. It could be different. There are less and less open-wheel series in North America," he added.

Bordeleau told us that he expects to reveal the identity of the new series before the end of May.

"We are looking at all the options. We are talking to several organizers. We can also stage a demonstration instead of a race if that suits their needs better. We keep talking," said Bordeleau.
