Late yesterday, Toyota announced that North American vehicle production levels are expected to return to 100 percent in September, roughly six months after the March 11 earthquake and tsunami in Japan.
On average, current production in Canada and the United States has improved to more than 80 percent. Eight of the company’s 12 North American-built models (including the Corolla and Matrix) returned to normal production on June 6.
Meanwhile, the Lexus RX350 and Toyota RAV4 will ramp up to 100 percent production in September from their current 60 percent and 25 percent levels, respectively.
These are excellent news for the Japanese automaker, which managed to recover earlier than originally anticipated.
