On September 10th, 1995, Jacques Villeneuve won the CART championship following the race in Laguna Seca, California (he had also won the Indy 500 earlier in the season). The Quebec phenom went on to enjoy tremendous success in Formula 1 as well, securing the drivers' title in 1997.
Villeneuve later raced for BAR, Renault, and Sauber, but his star was fading. Overall, his F1 career spanned from 1996 to 2006.
