Nissan Canada is offering owners of its Pathfinder sport-ute a 3-day chance to do what such vehicles are supposed to be about -- going off-road.

Camp Pathfinder will provide you with a chance to follow trained instructors through a variety of off-road terran, says Nissan Canada's Max Wickens, and participants will also receive maintenance and driving tips, as well as a list of other off-roading locations.

This will be the kind of program that's suitable for people who can buy a Pathfinder, which can cost well in excess of $30,000, so there'll be little or no "roughing it" unless the participant wants that.

"A gourmet cookout will be set up for an incomparable outdoor eating experience," explains Wickens. "You also have the option of sleeping under the stars in one of the campgrounds nearby, or staying at one of the amenity-loaded hotels in the area."

Camp Pathfinder will take place in the Kawarthas at Bobcaygeon, just two hours northeast of Toronto, on August 5 - 8 and August 12 - 15, and in the Laurentians at Saint-Sauveur, just one hour north of Montreal, on August 26 - 29. Sign-in is Thursday night and the program ends with a prize-giving on Sunday morning.
