German performance carmaker Porsche will present a new, commemorative version of the mid-engine Boxster at the Bologna Motor Show next month. Designed to recall Porsche's successful motorsport era of the 1960's, the new Boxster RS60 features appropriately nostalgic colors, features and design philosophies. Historians will remember the Porsche Type 718 RS 60 Spyder, which won one of the most prestigious long-distance races for the Manufacturers' World Championship back in 1960.

It's that sporting spirit that the new RS 60 is intended to capture. With a standard bumper fitted from Porsches SportDesign package, the RS60 is distinguished from the standard model with a more focused look. The wheels are positioned farther outwards too, moving them closer to the edges of the car for better handling and a sportier appearance. RS 60 also features a sports exhaust kit with dual tailpipes which helps increase the engine's output to a hearty 303 horsepower.

RS60 comes with painted silver metallic paint accented by a red roof and red leather interior. Owners can also specify a dark grey interior and black roof. The interior is also trimmed with stainless steel door pieces adorned with the "RS 60 Spyder" emblem, while a special gearshift lever and uniquely styled seat further differentiates the model.

The exclusive RS 60 will be produced in a limited production run of just 1,960 units when it hits the market this spring. It will carry an MSRP of $81,900 in Canada.
