It's been covered in the media and all over the internet from day one- Volvo was to create a premium compact vehicle to join a new segment alongside fierce competition from other automakers.

The resulting vehicle is called the C30- a machine of unique and expressive style, performance, and of course the exceptional safety that the brand is known for.
With a starting price of $27,495, Volvo's new two-door hatch will hit the streets in early April. At that price point, consumers get a 2.4i model, with 168 horsepower and 5-speed manual gearbox.
The T5 designated model carries a $31,995 pricetag and 218 horsepower turbocharged engine with 6-speed manual gearbox. Also included with the T5 is electronic climate control and leather trim- all punctuated by a premium stereo system.

Customizing ones ride is important in this market segment, so Volvo has appropriately created some attractive packages for buyers looking for a little extra. On the 2.4i model, a Premium Package is available for $2,150 and includes electronic climate control, heated seats, leather steering wheel and shifter knob and aluminum trim. A Sport package is also available for $3,000, including all the same hardware as the Premium Package but adding headlight washers, fog lamps, front spoiler and 17" wheels and tires.
T5 models can be equipped with the Sport Package for $3,400 to add heated seats, power drivers seat, Homelink transmitter, auto-dim mirror with compass, 17" wheels and bi-xenon headlamps.
