Power for the new MDX comes from Honda's highest-output V6 engine to date- a 3.7 litre VTEC mill which generates a robust 300 horsepower. Honda claims the new engine delivers six-cylinder fuel economy alongside eight-cylinder performance. Power is routed to all corners via the Super Handling All Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) system for optimized traction and control. 18-inch wheels are standard.

The five-speed sequential automatic gearbox is fitted with a fluid cooler which helps enable a 5000 lb towing capacity. While towing, a new Trailer Stability Assist function monitors unwanted movements and compensates through the Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) program.

Base price is $52,300, and two option packages are available: Technology ($56,900) and Elite ($61,900). The technology package features a high-end stereo and satellite radio, while the Elite package adds unique rims, roof rails and self leveling xenon lights, among other features.

With the advancements made to handling, traction, power, luxury and safety, and Acura expects the new MDX will set a new benchmark in the Canadian Luxury SUV market.
