British motorsport magazine Autosport reveals Friday that Lotus Renault GP F1 driver Robert Kubica will not contest the legendary Monte Carlo Rally this year after all.

The Polish driver was supposed to drive a Renault Clio R3 rally car in this event, the opening round of the 2011 Intercontinental Rally Challenge.

Kubica’s surprising withdrawal is apparently due to a contractual issue with his full-time F1 employer.

Autosport mentions that Kubica had been looking to drive a Super 2000 car (and be in the fight for overall victory) from a manufacturer other than Renault, which does not have a vehicle suitable for the Intercontinental Rally Challenge's top category.

Sources within the rally-organising Automobile Club de Monaco have confirmed that Kubica will not be at the start of the IRC opener.
