Nothing and no one can really prevent Sebastien Loeb (Citroen DS3 WRC) from winning the Rally Monte Carlo tomorrow Sunday. Loeb should normally clinch victory with a good run at the 4-km long Power Stage.
Loeb, the eight-time World Rally Championship, spent the day managing his advantage out in the lead. He drove fast but avoid making silly small mistakes that can cost victory.
Dani Sordo, in the MINI Clubman John Cooper Works WRC is securely in second place and did not push too hard all day long.
Behind them Petter Solberg (Ford Fiesta) and Mikko Horvonen (Citroën DS3) fought hard over third place.
Hirvonen set the best time in SS14, but Solberg immediately reacted and captured the best time in SS 15 and 16.
However, Hirvonen spun in SS16 and lost all chances of beating Solberg, a former World Rally Champion.
Without setting one single fast time today, Sebastien Loeb managed to stretched his lead over his pursuers. He should claim victory after after the Power Stage Sunday morning.
Overall classification:
1. Sebastien Loeb, Citroen DS3
2. Dani Sordo (MINI) at 2m41s
3. Petter Solberg (Ford Fiesta) at 3m00s
4. Mikko Hirvonen (Citroen DS3) at 4m05s
5. Evgenly Novikov (Ford Fiesta) at 6m00s
6. Francois Delecour (Ford Fiesta) at 6m55s
