Robert Kubica caught a break this weekend on the World Rally stage.

The Pole, who led his class in all the events he entered despite crashes and mechanical problems, finally won, at the Acropolis Rally, aboard his Citroën DS3 RRC.

His co-driver Maciej Baran and him finished the rally over a minute before second-place team of Yurii Protasov and Kuldar Sikk. WRC-2 championship leaders Abdulaziz Al-Kuwari and Killian Duffy completed the podium.

"This is a great day after a disappointing time with my mistakes and car failures when we didn't manage to bring anything home," Kubica said after the finish line.

"Now it is time to move on the the next challenge. I know I have to learn a lot and for sure over the next rallies I will improve even more.

"There is still a long way to go to reach the level I would like to be."

Finn Jari-Matti Latvala won outright aboard his VW Polo R WRC.
