While Sebastien Loeb (Citroen) dominated his rivals during the X-Games’ rallycross final at Los Angeles, Marcus Gronholm was transferred to the hospital due to a crash in Saturday practice.
The eight-times rally world champion was, again, impressive for his first X-Games appearance. He was driving a Citroen DS3 "XL" especially designed for the event and led Ken Block (Ford) in the finale round.
However, Loeb was not able to fight with his former WRC rival Marcus Gronholm, who runs the Global Rallycross championship this season after he retire from rallying at the end of 2007.
The Finn, who currently leads the provisional standings, with two victories in Charlotte and Texas, had an accident in the X-Games during the Saturday practice session. After hitting a concrete wall, Gronholm was uncouscious and transferred to the hospital. A statement said that he was now "conscious, alert and talking, and has full limb mobility." Doctors confirmed that, "his condition has improved overnight following a night’s sleep and rest."
