NASCAR Canada's champion Andrew Ranger was all set to qualify for the ARCA 200 race to be run on Saturday afternoon (February 9) at the Daytona International Speedway.

Unfortunately, according to his manager Alan Labrosse, he had to qualify on a very slippery track following the oil spill that veteran driver Frank Kimmel did just before Andrew's run.

Consequently, Andrew ran one second slower that during his practice and could not make the field. Had the qualifications been cancelled because of rain, his No 98 Chevy would have made it because the number was among the 30 first at the Championship last year.

But ARCA does not have the same rules as NASCAR with the 35 first in owner's points guaranteed starting position. Justin Marks (No 65 Toyota) has the pole. Franchitti (No 40 Dodge) will start 9th, Ottawa's Pierre Bourque (No 93 Dodge) will start 14th, B.C.'s Ryan Fischer (No 25 Chevy) 25th and Quebec-born Mario Gosselin (No 21 Chevy) 27th.

The race can be seen on Speed at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
