Youth-Oriented Matrix Bumps CRV and Ford Trucks off Top 10 List
Bucking a downward trend in overall vehicle sales in June, Toyota leaped ahead of the competition in buyer interest with the introduction of newer models, according to information released today by CarCostCanada (www.carcostcanada.com) - Canada's source for online dealer invoice cost and automotive research information. The firm tracks and reports the industry's major trends in their monthly report that highlights consumer interest in specific models and provides information on the best rebates, incentives and special cash back programs available to buyers. Listed below is June's Top 10 with the previous month's placement in brackets:

With edgy, fresh styling leading the way, Toyota's Sienna van landed in 5th spot, an impressive climb up from 54th position last month, pushing Canada's ever popular Dodge Caravan down to 6th. Meanwhile the 7th place Corolla-based Matrix crossover knocked at least one SUV - Honda's CRV - off of the Top 10 altogether in June. Ford's F-Series pickup - among North America's all-time best sellers - was also absent from the list. This clearly signals a shift in consumer interest towards cargo-friendly, small wagons and minivans. "Our members use the net to research dealer cost, incentives and factory rebates prior to negotiating deals and are quick to embrace new models which offer more value," noted Paul Timoteo, President of Car Cost Canada. "They're also more midsize-car and minivan oriented in their tastes than the general buying public. The favorites - Accord, Camry and Jetta score high on their shopping lists." Canada's top selling car - the Honda Civic - maintained its dominant position as the #1 consumer favorite, while Chrysler's Dodge Ram pickup and Caravan minivan were the only Big 3 automaker selections to continue as internet shopper favorites.
