Anders Olofsson passed away last Monday in his house at the age of 55.

In the late 70s Anders emerged as a talented Formula 3 driver, taking two Swedish national titles and winning seven rounds of the FIA European F3 Championship in 1977 and 1978.

Later he became a works driver for Nissan winning the Japanese Touring Car Championship three years running and the 1991 24 Hours of Spa.

He spent the last part of his career in GT, driving a Ferrari F40 to an outstanding victory on his home track at Anderstorp in the 1995 BPR series and a Gulf/GTC McLaren to second overall and first in class at the 1997 Le Mans 24 Hours.

Olofsson remained in motor sport over the last few years working as team manager of his Swedish fellow countryman Carl Rosenblad, at the Elgh Motorsport team, in the European, World and Swedish Touring Car championships.

He will be remembered as a real gentleman and will definitely be missed.
