Have you been waxing nostalgic for BMW’s 8 Series car, which was produced from 1989 to 1999? There’s good news for you from Harald Krüger. The Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG announced at the company’s latest annual general assembly that it will make return to the market before the end of 2018.
What’s more, the company is getting ready to unveil a first concept this coming May 26 at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in Italy.
“The BMW 8 Series Coupe will build on our tradition of luxurious sports coupes and add a genuine dream car to our lineup – a slice of pure automotive fascination,” said Krüger. “The 8 Series Coupe will underpin our claim to leadership in the luxury segment. I can tell you today that this will be a true luxury sports coupe.”
BMW is pursuing a strategy of focusing more heavily on products with greater profit margins than is typical with compact cars, for example.
