This year again at the Geneva Motor Show, Rinspeed, the Swiss concept car creator, will show another vehicle designed to be out of the ordinary. But this time, his concept will be one that could end up being produced.

This lightweight love bug was named “UC?”, which stands for “Urban Commuter” or “You see?”. The size of a smart fortwo or a Toyota iQ (it measures just 2.50 meters in length), it is powered by an electric motor delivering 91 foot-pound of torque. Operated with a central joystick, the UC? reaches a top speed of 110 km/h and has an operating range of 120 kilometres.

The UC? is intended to help avoid gridlock in the inner cities. At the same time an advanced railcar loading system, which is part of the concept, would extend the car’s autonomy, allowing covering long distances by train. A stress-free way to travel avoiding traffic jams! This desirable mobile carport with integrated battery charging station could conveniently be booked via the Internet.

According to Rinspeed boss, Frank M. Rinderknecht, “UC? is a new and highly emotional web-based car world that interweaves individual and public transport in an intelligent way. We want to create a community of people who are open for a new definition of mobility.”

The most important aspect of this two-seater is that it could reach mass production. The concept is designed to be adaptable and integrated by volume manufacturers. Intensive dialogues at the highest levels are already well underway according to Rinspeed.

The UC? will be unveiled at the 80th Geneva Motor Show in March 2010.
