It was truly an outstanding weekend for car lovers and fundraising. All of the proceeds from vehicle registrations, spectator admissions and other donations went to youth charities.

"It's beyond my expectations," said RM founder Rob Myers of the volunteers, the turnout and the donations. "I had a customer last night donate a $50-thousand cheque to the charity. I'm overwhelmed."

The 80 volunteers that manned the event were also overwhelmed by mid-morning on Saturday as the crowds filled the fields surrounding the RM shop. A spectacular turnout seemed befitting of the little business that has grown over the past 25 years from a small shop in a little town to an international company with sales of $100-million last year. And at least for a weekend, RM certainly put Chatham on the automotive world stage.

A leading restorer of investment-grade collector cars in North America, RM will hold ten classic car auctions this year in Canada and the U.S., including one at the famed Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.
