Canadian race car driver Robert Wickens will compete in the new FIA Formula 2 series in 2009 as part of the Red Bull effort.
Toronto's Robert Wickens, who has been a Red Bull Junior since 2006, has been confirmed as the first of the two drivers. The 19-year-old Canadian has won races in A1GP, Formula Renault 3.5 and the F3 Euro Series in the last year and hopes that F2 will help him on his way to Formula One.
Tobias Hegewald, Armaan Ebrahim and Jason Moore have also confirmed their entries to Formula 2 next season, and the final calendar for 2009 has been approved by the FIA.
