Sauber Signs Jacques Villeneuve for 2005 and 2006 Formula 1 Seasons

Sauber commented, "He was always a great fighter and I am convinced that together we can achieve a lot."

JV, enthusiastic but reserved in his optimism, added, "It is my goal to work with Peter and his team to bring them forward in the championship during the next two seasons. In my recent visit to Sauber I have been extremely impressed by the professionalism which is apparent throughout the factory. I am looking forward to seeing the results that will be developed by the state-of-the-art wind tunnel."

Currently Sauber's 29 points gives it a solid sixth position in the 2004 championship, placing ahead of Jaguar (10), Toyota (9), Jordan (5), and Minardi (1). Still, it has a lot of catching up to do in order to pass by 5th place and climbing McLaren-Mercedes (52), while the rest of the pack, which includes Williams-BMW (60), Renault (91), BAR Honda (94) and Ferrari (234) is even further ahead.
