Interesting innovations
One of Jonathan's goals was to advance the safety features of the minibus: a low floor for easy access, a rear door for passenger evacuation, various equipments to accommodate different types of people (such as a retractable access ramp), etc. In addition, the seat cushions are foldable like those of a movie theatre, which makes moving wheelchairs easier, for instance. A light on the seatback indicates whether the passenger's seatbelt is buckled up or not. For a schoolbus, oversized taillights are integrated in the vehicle's design, as well as a reflective stop sign to remind drivers not to pass the bus. There is also a camera on each fender to allow the bus driver to see where the pedestrians are and to make sure that there is no vehicle in any of the blind spots.
What about the driver?
Jonathan certainly did not forget about the person that sits behind the wheel for many hours. He redesigned the cockpit by creating a control area where visibility and ergonomics are the main focus. As a result, the steering wheel is adjustable both in height and in length.
Eco-friendly platform
Initially, Jonathan aimed to develop a platform that would accommodate various types of chassis from today's world -- which he did. Then, his green conscience awoke and he revised the platform to be compatible with in-wheel engines and fuel cell drivetrains (based on GM's platform). The goal is to produce a more eco-friendly vehicle.

MICHELIN design contest
Jonathan entered his project in the annual design contest sponsored by Michelin. The finalists will showcase their work at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. We'll be there to admire his creation and to wish him good luck.
