A concept version of the Chrysler Pacifica was revealed in January at the 2002 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. A production version will be revealed later this year. Production of the 2004 Chrysler Pacifica will begin in early 2003.

The Windsor Assembly Plant was built in 1928. Minivan production began in 1983. Chrysler currently employs 5,400 people at Windsor.

Despite speculation, the minivan market segment remains vibrant with industry-wide sales of approximately 1.4 million units in 2001. Chrysler Group continues to dominate the minivan segment with a 37.5 percent U.S. market share. The company sells more than 550,000 Chrysler and Dodge minivans worldwide every year and has sold nearly 10 million minivans since introducing the segment in November of 1983.
