We’re still a long ways away from flying cars, but the day we drive to work reading the paper or putting on our makeup without endangering lives is drawing ever nearer.

Alan Taub, GM’s Vice President of Global Research and Development, believes completely autonomous vehicles will be hitting our roads by the end of the decade.

He says the technologies his team are perfecting at the moment will completely free drivers from their responsibilities and ensure they get to where they’re going safely, “eliminating the crash altogether by interceding on behalf of drivers before they’re even aware of a hazardous situation”.
