"We are very impressed with the Chevrolet Venture. In a short period of time, Shanghai GM re-engineered the executive wagon expressly for the Philippine market," said Harold Koh, President and General Manager of GM Automobiles Philippines, Inc. "Its advantages in safety, interior comfort and drivability will make the Venture a popular choice among vehicle buyers in the Philippines."
The Chevrolet Venture offers many of the same features of the GL8. Its spacious interior seats up to 10 passengers in comfort. Dual side sliding doors and a one-piece liftgate make it easy to move passengers and cargo in and out. Power windows and locks, remote keyless entry, power steering and air conditioning are standard, as are four-wheel ABS and dual front-seat airbags. The Chevrolet Venture is powered by a dynamic 2.98-liter V-6 engine and a 4-speed automatic transmission.
With a total investment of US$1.52 billion, Shanghai GM is a 50-50 joint venture between GM and Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC). Currently, Shanghai GM manufactures and distributes a family of Buick mid-size sedans, executive wagons and Buick Sail compact car. Last year, Shanghai GM sold slightly over 30,000 units.
