The Speedcar Series' first untimed practice session took place today ahead of qualifying and Race 1 tomorrow at the Dubai Autodrome. Vitantonio Liuzzi made his debut in this season by clocking the fastest time.
Liuzzi ran 15 laps in the hour-long session with a best time of 2:07.056. Gianni Morbidelli trailed him closely, less than a tenth of a second behind.
Commenting on the practice run, Liuzzi said, "It was a very good session and I am happy to have started the season off on the right foot. I'm also very pleased with the car that I have. We will work on some improvements for the qualifying session tomorrow and if I make pole position then that would be the ideal way to begin with Speedcar Series."
Canadian Jacques Villeneuve set the 6th fastest time, just 0.692 second down of Liuzzi despite the throttle problem.
