Normand Legault, the king of Montreal's racing scene, was responsible for bringing the NASCAR circus to the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve. He had good reasons to feel satisfied on Saturday night.

In addition to the Busch Series, Montreal hosted two exciting races on Friday (Grand-Am Rolex Series) and Saturday morning (NASCAR Canadian Tire), much to the delight of the 129,000 spectators on hand. Most of them raved about the quality of the entertainment during these two days.

We can all tip our hats to Legault, Spalding, Dumontier, Prieur and their entire organization.

Legendary Jean-Paul Cabana, one of the pioneers of stock car racing in Quebec, was an honorary guest during the weekend. He waved the green flag at the start of the race.

Mr. Cabana must be really proud to finally see a major NASCAR event in Quebec.

Andrew Ranger gets his car ready for inspection before the NASCAR Canadian Tire race.

Officials measure the exact length of the car and check several other parameters.

Obviously, Andrew's car is 100-percent legal and ready to go.

During the pre-race ceremonies, Andrew Ranger, along with his girlfriend and crew members, take a moment of silence while our national anthem is being played.

The end of the NASCAR Canadian Tire race was both spectacular and controversial. Upon further review, race officials did not strip Kerry Micks of the winner's trophy.
He finished ahead of Andrew Ranger by 103 milliseconds.

The latter questioned his opponent's actions while the crowd booed the winner.

Alexandre Tagliani did not finish the race. Actually, he had to quit after only seven laps because of braking problems.

This was a major disappointment for "Tag", who really wanted to please his hometown fans.
